If any of you have gotten a letter from the SFM requesting greater detail for the Fitter Certification Application language Jeff Schwartz has provided the following clarification:

AUTOMATIC FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEMS
FIRE SPRINKLER FITTER CERTIFICATION IMPLEMENTATION

As the Office completes its review of applications submitted under the "Implementation Period", those approved applicants will soon receive their Certification Cards with a July 2018-June 2019 validation sticker. The fee paid during the implementation period covered the processing of the application and the first-year certification.

These individuals will be required to renew their certifications by May 1, 2019 and yearly after that as stated in Title 19, California Code if Regulations, Section 944(a), "The notice of renewal for a Trainee Registration, Apprentice Registration, or Fitter Certification shall be returned on or before May 1st of the year in which the current certification or registration expires. If the notice ofrenewal is not received by May 1st, a late fee shall be charged as prescribed in Section 925. 1. Renewals shall be made in writing on the notice provided by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and shall be signed and accompanied by the fees prescribed in Section 925.1."

Notice of Renewal will be sent by CAL FIRE - Office of the State Fire Marshal annually on or around March 15t every year.

Individual has installed steel sprinkler pipe, can thread pipe on a Rigid 300 pipe machine, installed CPVC sprinkler pipe, installed seismic restraints / hangers, can read sprinkler and architectural plans, has installed fire pumps, tanks, has performed inspection and testing of existing fire sprinkler systems, has soldered / brazed copper pipe, has installed control valves, fittings, sprinkler heads, etc. Also looking for CPR/First Aid certification, OSHA 10 / 30 certification.
